Maths AA·AI

Mickey’s approach is foundation-first. He builds the intuition behind each concept before layering in past-paper practice, so students don’t just memorise procedures — they understand why each method works.

About

Mickey teaches IB Maths AA and AI, drawing on his own IB Diploma at Oslo International School in Norway and a Mechanical Engineering degree from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Having sat the IB exams himself, he understands first-hand where students stumble — not in theory, but from experience. Before joining IBtheTOP, he taught IB Maths and Physics at a leading Sinsa-dong academy, working with students from international schools across Korea and the wider region.

Teaching Style

Foundation-first conceptual building

Builds intuition behind each concept before layering in past-paper practice — ensuring students understand why methods work, not just how to apply them.

Flexibility and transferability

Particularly effective for students who can "do the steps" but freeze when problems are worded differently from the textbook — training flexible, adaptable understanding.

Deep comprehension over survival

Designed for students who want to genuinely grasp Maths rather than just survive it — building lasting mathematical intuition.

Ideal for: students who want genuine understanding, or those who struggle when problems differ from textbook examples
